For the past decade, Botswana has been on a trajectory to establish a vibrant tertiary education sector, investing knowledge, human resources and local and overseas funding to build a strong system. The vision is for Botswana to become a center of excellence in tertiary education and to attract foreign students. An education hub has been created to market Botswana as a destination for higher education.

UB

The University of Botswana is closely involved in the national development plan(NDP) process of Botswana. In this regard the special functions of the University are to engage in improving the quality and in expanding the quantity of the human resources needed for development, and to act as the repository of the collective knowledge and experience of the nation and the world.
The first of these functions is fulfilled through the teaching programmes offered by the University and its affiliated institutions, leading to the award of degrees, diplomas and certifi cates. The second function is carried out individually and collectively by the staff of the University and its affiliated institutions, through the research and development, consultancies and information services which they undertake. [1]


BIUST

The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) is a government-supported institution established through the BIUST Act as a research-intensive University that specializes in Engineering, Science and Technology at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Visioned to be a Center of Excellence, a world-class research institution, and the Science, Engineering, and Technology University of choice in the region, and the African continent. [2]

Botswana Accountancy College asserts itself not only as a college transitioning into a busines school, but rather as a centre for excellence. The college is characterised by the quality of its programmes and their relevance to the wider economy, both today and into the future. [3]



BUAN

The Government of Botswana approved the then Botswana College of Agriculture(BCA) transformation to become a university of agriculture and natural resources, through a Presidential Directive CAB 21 (B)/2013. The decision was in line with the College’s Strategic Plan of 2009-2016, that had a vision to transform into “an agricultural university of international repute.”

Limkokwing University is a private Malaysian university that offers accredited and recognized diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes. [10]


Botho University

IDM

The Institute of Development Management (IDM) was established in 1974 as a regional organization in Botswana , Lesotho and Swaziland (BLS) countries to help meet the management needs of the Region through management development activities including training, consultancy, research, and the establishment of a Management Resource Centre. ABM University

ABMUC was founded in 1989, and is one of the pioneers in offering private tertiary education in Botswana. ABMUC offers a range of programmes tailor-made to meet the needs of industry and commerce. [9]

GIPS

GIPS is one of the leading premiers of Tertiary Educational Institution with a motto of “EXCELLENCE IN HIGHER LEARNING”. It was established in the year 1991 by Mr. ARJINDER PAL SINGH with a view to provide quality based education in Botswana. [8]


Ba Isago University

BA ISAGO, is a dynamic private tertiary education institution offering market-driven programmes of international repute, registered and accredited by Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA).The University has student population of over 3000 with branches in Gaborone, Francistown, Maun and Serowe. The University offers a wide range of postgraduate, degree, diploma, professional and certificate level programmes, on a full-time, evening, block release and weekend classes. The University has established a School of Graduate Studies and Research in addition to the four faculties. All graduate programmes will be managed from this school and will also offer impetus to research at this level. [6]
